ECO Foundation Opens Applications for Inaugural Environmental Scholarships

The ECO Foundation is pleased to invite applications for its inaugural Scholarship Program, supporting students and professionals who are preparing to contribute to Canada’s environmental workforce, environmental stewardship and emerging sustainability solutions.

Year 1 Scholarship Categories

The Year 1 program includes five scholarship categories designed to reflect different stages of education and career development

Indigenous Environmental Stewardship Scholarship​

For Indigenous students pursuing environment-related programs.

Focus Area

Leadership, stewardship and workforce development, including relevant Indigenous knowledge and environmental practice.

Emerging Environmental Talent Scholarship

For students entering or early in post-secondary, technical or trades pathways.

Focus Area

Building the future environmental workforce pipeline.

Environmental Workforce Advancement & Transition Scholarship

For mid-career, transitioning or underemployed professionals.

Focus Area

Reskilling, certification and career mobility into or within environmental work.

Environmental Career Launch Scholarship

For final-year students or recent graduates.

Focus Area

Supporting transition from education into environmental employment through training, certification and job readiness.

Environmental Innovation & Technology Scholarship

For individuals pursuing skills, studies or research in emerging environmental fields.

Focus Area

CleanTech, climate technology, AI/digital applications, environmental data and related innovation.
Depending on the scholarship category, eligible applicants may include students enrolled in relevant university, college, polytechnic, technical or trades programs; final-year students and recent graduates; professionals seeking to upskill or transition into environmental work; Indigenous students and professionals pursuing environmental leadership; and individuals undertaking relevant innovation, technology or graduate-level studies. Scholarship recipients will be selected through a transparent evaluation process that considers alignment with the scholarship purpose, commitment and potential, clarity of the applicant’s education or career pathway, expected impact of the award, and the proposed use of scholarship funds.
